On Saturday, November 18, hundreds of Compton residents and school district families were treated to Thanksgiving baskets with a beautiful turkey and all the trimmings to take home. Attendees enjoyed a day at Gonzales Park filled with music, community, and celebration, thanks to the collaboration of their generous hosts, Compton Mayor Pro Tem Janna Zurita , Compton School Board President Satra Zurita and School Board Member Alma Pleasant.
“The need is so great, but the heart of Compton is greater!” said Board President Satra Zurita, “I feel very fortunate to be an advocate for the students and families of our District and am honored to be able to share my appreciation for them in this way.”
In the spirit of the holiday, School Board member Alma Taylor-Pleasant, also expressed thankfulness, “I am grateful for all who lifted a hand or in some way contributed to making this day happen.” She was also joined by other School Board members, who assisted in distributing boxes and greeting families.
