A recent routine audit of Compton Unified School District’s elementary, middle and high schools has confirmed that every student in Compton Unified School District has sufficient access to both state and District-required instructional materials, such as textbooks, for the 2019-20 school year. At an open hearing of the Compton School Board of Trustees, Mario Marcos, Executive Director of Education Services-Elementary reported findings from a recent routine “Audit of Sufficient Instructional Materials.” The annual audit, conducted by the Los Angeles County Office of Education, seeks to ensure that all students have access to District and California Department of Education- adopted instructional materials, including textbooks.

“The audit confirms our District’s commitment and ability to ensure that every student has access to the instructional materials they need to meet their educational needs,” said President Micah Ali, “It is a testament to our hardworking Superintendent and staff who are committed to ensuring that not only does every student have access to instructional materials, but also ensuring that whatever materials they have meets the standards set forth by both the State of California and the District.”

Marcos also shared that the annual audit has consistently found that the District has consistently ensured that every student has sufficient instructional materials and have met state requirements regarding the availability of such materials over the course of the past several years, including the 2018-19 and 2017-18 school years.
