Earlier today, one of our school sites, Longfellow Elementary, was graffitied with hateful words. Per district policy, School Police was immediately contacted and the graffiti removed so that students would not have to endure such a deplorable display of hatred. We are saddened by this and maintain that our school campuses are safe and welcoming environments, and our district is a place where students of all backgrounds are embraced. CUSD School Police will be working with Compton Sheriffs to find out who is responsible for this unacceptable act and prosecute them. In the meantime, school police units will be adding patrols around campus. Finally, we have pupil support staff that are being made available to students and staff should their assistance be needed. We ask the public to contact CUSD School Police or Compton Sheriffs with any information as to who is responsible: (310) 639-4321 ext. 55151.

We will to continue to be a welcoming and supportive district for students, families and staff of all backgrounds. We will continue to elevate kindness, community, and social justice for all. Finally, we will continue to do the great work of educating Compton scholars and breaking down barriers to opportunity.
