Congratulations to Anderson, Clinton, Emerson, Jefferson, Laurel, Longfellow, Mayo, McKinley, McNair, Roosevelt, Rosecrans and Tibby, all named a 2020 Top Los Angeles County Public School by Innovate Public Schools (in partnership with the University of Southern California’s (USC) Sol Price Center for Social Innovation and USC Rossier Center on Education Policy, Equity and Governance). The schools were called out in the effort’s Top Public Schools Report).
The Top Public Schools Report celebrates the 278 schools (12 from Compton Unified School District!) closing the opportunity gap for low-income African American and Latino students in Los Angeles County. The full report can be found here.
What is a Top Public School? Top Public Schools are schools that are outperforming the statewide average in one or more factors including math and reading scores, college eligibility, and suspension rates. To qualify, schools must also serve a representative proportion of low-income African American or Latino students.
