The Compton Unified School District has started the process of transitioning to board-district (trustee area) elections, effective March 2020. This means that residents who live within the District will be able to vote for a single Board of Trustees candidate from their board-district who will represent that area. This replaces the District’s current “at-large” election system in which all Board members are elected by voters of the entire district.
The District will be holding public hearings as part of the procedure to transition to a board-district election system. In the board-district election system, the District will be divided into seven board-districts. For each area, one board member will be elected by the registered voters in that particular area. To be eligible for election, candidates will need to reside in the trustee area in which they are running for election.
You are invited to attend the public meetings and community hearings. Notices will also be posted on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
