Effective July 1, 2014 all contractors that participate in public works projects that require prevailing wages for projects that meet or exceeds $1,000 as defined by the Department of Industrial Relations must adhere the following criteria:
“California new law (SB 854) provides that “A contractor or subcontractor shall not be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal, subject to the requirements of Section 4104 of the Public Contract Code, or engage in the performance of any contract for public work, as defined in the chapter, unless currently registered and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Labor Code Section 1725.5.” Please go to http://www.dir.ca.gov/Public-works/PublicWorks.html for more information and to register. This project is subject to monitoring by the Department of Industrial Relations.”
In order to ensure that each public works project meets the Department of Industrial Relations criteria as defined by SB 854, the Compton Unified School District shall require each contractor participating in projects that meet or exceed $1,000, to complete the District’s PWC-100 Contractor Form (this form can be found in the downloads section). Failure to complete and provide this form to the Compton Unified School District will automatically disqualify you and your company to participate in any public works projects. If you should have any questions, please contact Barbara Salas at (310) 639-4321, extension 67214.
