Compton USD has just been awarded TWO federal GEARUP grants to support our middle school students' college pathways and achievement in math. In partnership with UC Irvine and Cal State Dominguez Hills, $10 million over the next 7 years will provide student learning resources, professional development and tracking of student progress through their freshman year of college.
- To celebrate and to introduce the grant to our students and parents, CUSD is holding a big event on Feb. 15 at Compton College. Compton USD's Middle School 6th and 7th-grade students, parents, and educators are invited to attend this wonderful event.
- There will be a college fair, interactive STEM booths, and other activities to convey to the students and parents that this historic partnership will create a positive college-going culture throughout the district AND support the students with the curriculum, resources, tutoring, and instruction to put them on a path to the top colleges in the nation.
In short, it's a game changer for Compton Unified and we expect a dramatic improvement in student achievement and college acceptance rates.

Compton USD acaba de recibir DOS subsidios federales GEAR UP para apoyar los logros universitarios de nuestros estudiantes de las escuelas secundarias en matemáticas. En resumen, es un cambio de juego para el Distrito de Compton y esperamos una mejora dramática en los logros de los estudiantes y las tasas de aceptación universitarias.
