A Message From Compton Unified School District Board Of Trustees And Superintendent Darin Brawley

Dear Compton Unified School District Community,

On behalf of the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees, I want to wish you a joyous and healthy Thanksgiving Holiday and break. In this quite unusual and difficult year, I know that I speak for the entire Board when I say that the employees, students, parents and supporters of our district are at the very top of the list of what we are most grateful for.

I have the pleasure of seeing this impact each day, from innovative instructional techniques of teachers who go above and beyond to engage Compton scholars, to our recent Students of the Month celebration acknowledging the dedication and hard work of students.

Despite the pandemic, you placed front and center the well-being of our students and the vital need to ensure that they continue to learn and are supported socially and emotionally. This year more than any other it became clear that our schools are essential in communities. Whether it was ensuring that our students have access to tools to enable them to learn at home, ensuring they participate in learning each day, providing protective equipment and sanitized spaces, or providing meals that for many are their only meals of the day, your efforts made a positive impact.

It is for these reasons, that we can still find joy and inspiration even in these very challenging times. It is for these reasons that I am grateful.

Again, may you have a very happy Thanksgiving Holiday. Please continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing and hand washing over the break. I look forward to continuing to support the education of Compton students when we return on Monday, November 30th.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Darin Brawley
