Q: Where are you located, and what are your hours?

            No Appointment needed; walk-ins welcome

Please Note:     Enrollment and Permits could be done completely online, in the comfort of your home without visiting NSOC. Just complete the forms, sign and upload all supplemental documents. Make sure all copies are legible.

  1. What if I don’t have a computer or internet?
  2. If you do not have a computer or internet access, please visit the Pupil Services Department, as there is access to the online application through our kiosks. 2300 W. Caldwell Street, Compton, Building E4 & E5. For additional assistance, please contact the Pupil Services Department at (310) 639-4321 Ext. 63048/63069. Furthermore; all of our school sites have Enrollment Computers and also at the main office 501 Santa Fe.

 

  1. Do I need an appointment?
  2. No! We service ‘walk-ins’, daily.
  3. I just moved to Compton from another City or State. What should I bring with me to enroll my children in Compton Unified School District schools?
  4. You are able to completely enroll your child online and upload all documents necessary. However, if you need a face to face service, please bring to the New Student Orientation Center (NSOC), 2300 W. Caldwell Street, Compton, Building D, Room #2, the following documents with you when coming to our Enrollment office.
  • Parent/Guardian Photo Identification
  • Proof of address, established by a current statement (within 30-days) of any one of the following: Utility bills (Lights, Gas, or Water), Bank statements (checking or saving), Correspondence from a government department Social Service, IRS, Disability, or Employment), car registration, check stub,  or property taxes.
  • Progress report or Transcript (secondary) from the last school of attendance.
  • If enrolling a kindergartener or first grader, include their immunization records, birth certificate, recent health examination, and proof of oral health. If you are missing an item, please bring what you have, and the service team will discuss with you the appropriate steps for the missing item(s).
  1. I’m at work during your business hours. Can my representative handle my child’s enrollment for me?
  2. Yes! Provided you authorize them in writing to handle this transaction and provide a copy of your ID. Your signed and dated authorization must include: Your name, the child’s name and date of birth, and a Statement of what you are authorizing, to whom you give this permission, when (period of time-date), and signed and dated by you.
  • Please provide them with the following documents to bring with them when coming to our office.
  • Proof of address, established by a current statement (within 30-days) of any one of the following: Utility bills (Lights, Gas, or Water), Bank statements (checking or saving), Correspondence from a government department Social Service, IRS, Disability, or Employment), car registration, check stub, or property taxes.
  • Progress report/transcript: Please bring a copy of their last school progress report or transcript.

  1. I’m moving to another city at the end of the month what do I need to do?
  2. Notify the school that the child/children are currently attending that you are or will be leaving, and they will provide you with withdrawal documents that you can take to the new school.
  3. I live with my mother, and the utilities are in her name; how can I verify residence?
  4. Proof of address, established by a current statement (within 30-days) of any one of the following:

Utility bills (Lights, Gas, or Water), Bank statements (checking or saving), Correspondence from a government department Social Service, IRS, Disability, or Employment), car registration, check stub, or property taxes. If you have none of the listed items, come to the office, and we will provide and explain the use of an Affidavit of Residence form for this purpose.

  1. Questions Relating to Transfer/Permits
  2. I just moved to Compton, but I don’t want my child to go to their school of residence (the school where they live). I want them to go to a different school in Compton. What should I do?
  3. Complete the fillable Intra-district form on line Permits and Transfer (compton.k12.ca.us) and send attaching the information listed below. Intra-District Transfers (within CUSD boundaries) An intra-district transfer/open enrollment is when parents/guardians wish to register/admit/enroll their student(s) at a school other than the designated school that is in their attendance area within their district

 

  1. Alternatively, you could come to the New Student Orientation Center (NSOC), 2300 W. Caldwell Street, Compton, Building D, Room #2, and discuss with the team servicing you your school preference. Please bring the following document when coming to the office.
  • Parent/Guardian Photo Identification
  • Proof of address, established by a current statement (within 30-days) of any one of the following: Utility bills (Lights, Gas, or Water), Bank statements (checking or saving), Correspondence from a government department Social Service, IRS, Disability, or Employment), car registration, check stub, or property taxes.

Progress report/transcript

  1. I just moved to Compton, but I don’t want my child to go to any of the Compton schools. I want my child to continue in the district where he/she was attending or another. or I need a release for my child to go to a different district. What do I need to do?
  2. You are seeking an Inter-district transfer release ( a change from CUSD, where the parent resides to another school district.). Permits and Transfer (compton.k12.ca.us).

Fillable applications are online, completely fill, sign and attach all documents requested. Then email to [email protected] or [email protected]

 

  • Parent/Guardian Photo Identification
  • Proof of address, established by a current statement (within 30-days) of any one of the following: Utility bills (Lights, Gas, or Water), Bank statements (checking or saving), Correspondence from a government department Social Service, IRS, Disability, or Employment), car registration, check stub, or property taxes.
  • Progress report/transcript if they are attending a school outside the district or have a sibling (brother or sister) attending a school out-of-the district. Please bring a copy of their last school progress report or transcript or a copy of the sibling’s progress report/transcript from the school of attendance. The transcript or progress report is the required documentation for the transfer/permit requested reasons sibling or continuation.
  1. I don’t live in Compton, but I want my child/children to go to a Compton Unified School District schools. What should I do?
  2. When living in a school district other than Compton Unified School District (CUSD), you must obtain permission from the school district that services your address to attend a school in Compton, USD.

 

  1. How soon can I get a release for my child to go to school in a different school district?
  2. The transfer/permit cycle average 7 to 10 business days. The disposition (approval or denial) letter sent to the email address and residential address that is shown in the application unless the applicant requests to pick up the disposition letter.
  3. Come to the Office of Transfers/ and Student Permits (OTSP), 2300 W. Caldwell Street, Compton, Building E, Room #4, to complete an Inter-District Transfer/Permit Application Request. Please bring the following document with you when coming to the office.
